Jesus promised that the truth will set us free, implying that lies will keep us in bondage (John 8:32). Moreover, Christians are commanded to speak and uphold the truth (Eph. 4:25). Terms such as post-truth, fake news, and alternative facts are an assault upon the character of God, His promise of freedom, and His charge to us as Christians. As such, there are few things more important for Christians than using our influence to help people identify lies and turn to embrace the truth.
Nearly half of all Americans have a negative view of the news media. Only 44% say they can think of a news source that reports the news objectively, and 66% say news outlets do not do a good job of separating fact from opinion.
