I hope the following helps answer these questions as it is important to me that people understand my background, what God has called me to do, and what I believe.

Who am I?

My name is Dave Warn, and I am a graduate of St. Cloud State University in Minnesota, where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management (1986), and Denver Seminary, where I earned a Master of Arts in Christian Studies (2004). The reason I pursued this master’s degree was to more fully understand various theological positions within the body of Christ and for the opportunity to extensively study America’s Great Awakenings.

After graduating from St. Cloud State University, I served with Campus Crusade for Christ for 15 years (1987–2002).  For the first six years, I served at Moorhead State University (Moorhead, MN) and North Dakota State University (Fargo, ND). In 1993, my wife and I moved to Madison, Wisconsin where I served as Campus Crusade for Christ’s campus director at The University of Wisconsin until 2002. It was during this time that God moved us into a dramatically more fruitful season when the ministry grew from 100 to 600 students, with many coming to faith in Christ. Watching God move in this way became my primary impetus for studying America’s Great Awakenings.

After seminary, I served as the director of Collegiate Impact, an outreach to colleges and universities under the umbrella of Life Action Ministries (2002–2014). During this twelve-year season, I traveled extensively throughout the nation ministering alongside parachurch ministries such as InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, Chi Alpha Campus Ministry, The Navigators, Christian Union, Campus Crusade for Christ (Cru), and others. Also, I founded and directed The Institute of Campus Revival and Awakening, which was held at Yale University (2006–2008). Ministers from church-based campus ministries and parachurch leaders, as well as Christian college administrators, participated in this weeklong conference.

From 2009 through 2019, I served on the national Collegiate Day of Prayer leadership team.

From the fall of 2014 through the present, I have served as the founder and director of Forerunners of America. In this capacity, I continue to travel and minister in many contexts, including within local churches and conference settings, and I host FOA’s INSIGHTS podcast, write, and shepherd the Forerunners staff team toward God’s call on this ministry to warn the nation and help people respond in faith.

Why do I do what I do?

While I am a conference speaker and host of the INSIGHTS podcast, my primary responsibility is to serve as the director of Forerunners of America. In a nutshell, the Forerunner’s podcast, website, conferences, videos, and writing all aim to produce quality, life-changing content aimed to meet people where they are at.

• Most Christians who gravitate to Forerunners of America want to know if they are crazy for believing that America is in trouble and—just as importantly—they want to know what to do. Therefore, I provide warning messaging from a biblical perspective and often provide specific application regarding how to respond in faith. Mostly, I do this by speaking at conferences and by hosting the INSIGHTS podcast. I am both motivated by diagnosing the problem and aiding God’s people to become the solution.
• At the principle level, I want to provide people with biblical content in several areas, which are not often addressed by the body of Christ. I am passionate about delivering this content in such a way that Christians can easily pass these principles along to others. Topics include:
  • Does God only care about fulfilling the Great Commission or does God care about sovereign nations today?
  • Is God weighing nations in the balance today?
  • Why do nations experience blessings and judgments?
  • What are the biblical battlefronts being contested throughout culture today?
  • What biblical principles provide answers to these questions, and how can we be part of the solution?
• Through FOA’s website, conferences, and writing, we are delivering God’s “now” message for our nation in a variety of ways. Through FOA’s INSIGHTS podcast, Bible studies like America in the Balance and Insurgence, articles, books, and apologetic teaching, we are helping Christians understand the dangerous hour in which we live, how to stand firm amid cultural waywardness, and how to see God’s purposes accomplished. I am passionate about each of these facets of God’s calling upon FOA and how we can help instruct and equip people and churches throughout our nation.
• It is paramount that, within our churches, we ask two questions. First, are we spiritually prepared for times of greater national difficulty? The attacks on 9/11, the economic downturn of 2008, and the COVID-19 pandemic were likely not the end of our national and global shakings but may be viewed as the beginning of even greater shakings to come. Second, are we prepared to see God work through us to see dramatically more fruit in and through our lives and churches? I am driven to see God’s people answer both of these questions in the affirmative and to be equipped to help others do the same.

I believe that without a national humbling and repentance led by the church (see 2 Chronicles 7:14 and Revelation chapters 2 and 3), America will experience a divine shaking that will bring us to our knees. In other words, either we will choose to humble ourselves, or God will humble us.

I believe that America has experienced many corrective judgments, which if not responded to now or in the near future, will lead us to a devastating divine judgment. In Amos chapter four, God lists the corrective judgments He had already sent to Israel, as well as the clear warning of an imminent and devasting final judgment (Amos 4:6-12). Although judgment is God’s last resort, Christians need to understand how God interacts with nations and the process by which God brings blessing and judgment to a nation.

I also believe that God and His people are the only hope for America. If God’s people will stand firm through our cultural waywardness, contend for the faith in practical ways, and proclaim the gospel, then this can be the church’s finest hour. Indeed, I believe that God is preparing us to see the most fruitful evangelistic season in our nation’s history.

Although national shakings and widespread harvest can happen anytime during a nation’s existence, I believe our future shakings and blessings will likely unfold into Jesus’ return.
