This Is Our War to Surrender

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

America’s war with God began in our churches and in our households, not in our government. As such, the responsibility to surrender this war with God ultimately rests with each of us individually, not with our government leaders. Until we are willing to personally humble ourselves and to submit our own lives, households, churches, and communities to God’s will, our nation will never relent of its revolt.

When will enough be enough? How much difficulty must we endure before we repent of our rebellion against God? It is time for us to stop pointing the finger of blame at the deficiencies of our national leadership, expecting change to come from the top. America has always been a nation of the people, by the people, and for the people. Change can come to the top, but only if it starts with us. As such, it is we the people who will determine the course of our nation and the outcome of this war with God.

One way or the other, God will win this war. Surrender is our best option. Our only alternative is to be defeated.

In His mercy, God is presently making the same appeal to each and every one of us that He made to Israel: “Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. … Oh that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live! You can make this choice by loving the LORD your God, obeying him, and committing yourself firmly to him. This is the key to your life” (Deut. 30:19–20a, NLT).

The choice is ours. What will we choose?
