Gregg Healey, the founder of New Breed is today’s guest blogger. Welcome Gregg!
According to Scripture, there is a time for believers to come out of Babylon: “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues… she will be utterly burned with fire, for strong is the Lord God who judges her” (Rev. 18:4–8).
In 2001, a month before the towers fell on 9/11, the Lord spoke similar words to me in San Francisco on an investment banking trip. He spoke them through Isaiah 52, which is a parallel scripture. At the time, I thought it meant leaving my place of employment to go work at another bank, but over the next 15 years, I came to understand that the Lord was speaking about not just a bank, but a system … a Babylonian system.
What is Babylon? Babylon, biblically, is described as a harlot. This is in direct contrast to the spotless chaste bride being prepared for the bridegroom King – Jesus. So, this is a conflict of kingdoms – the Bride representing the Kingdom of heaven on the earth, and Harlot Babylon representing antichrist kingdoms here on the earth. One is virtuous; one is corrupt. The corruption has increased over time, and now has reached such epic proportions, that God is declaring judgment over her.
The extent of Harlot Babylon’s control of our 21st century world is extensive. She sits over the “7 mountains” of culture (Rev. 17:9) – meaning every aspect of society – business, education, government, media, entertainment, family, religion. Does this surprise us? Can we not see today that even in the United States of America, these cultural mountains (spheres) are led and influenced more by the Harlot than the Bride?
We need to understand that many of the systems we take for granted – the financial markets and monetary systems – are controlled by the Harlot and act as a type of power grid interconnecting and empowering all 7 mountains. They are led and driven by those who primarily worship money and self, not God. This is my observation over the past three decades. Spirits of fear and greed predominate. These systems are not innocent. While in theory, they are neutral infrastructure – in fact, they are intelligently designed to enslave men (“the borrower is slave to the lender,” Prov. 22:7). We can no longer afford to put our faith in these systems, for they will be judged. They will fail.
This is not new of course. The tower of Babel failed; the Babylon of Nebuchadnezzar failed. The monetary financial systems of Egypt, Babylon, Persia, Greece and Rome all failed. They are long gone. In modern times, we have seen the development of the global financial markets—an invention of our nation with the US dollar as the underpinning. In 2001 and 2008, these systems shook. My prophetic understanding is that these were the beginning tremors of further judgment, not the end. “My People” don’t be caught unaware. There is no future in the Harlot, nor her systems. We all know that when Jesus returns to the earth, standing on Mount Olives, His family’s monetary economic business rule will be entirely different from that of the Harlot’s. Why invest in that which will be judged by God Himself?
Let’s build (pioneer and walk in faith) toward Kingdom blueprints, models, and systems of the Lord’s return. We can by faith. Love is the currency of God’s kingdom, where God blesses people helping people. God’s economy is based on giving and receiving, not taking what we can out of selfish ambition through fear and greed.
As God warned us almost 2,000 years ago, “Come out of her my people!”
